Shanti - "Share My Air"

"Shanti’s debut CD is a breath of fresh musical air. Her performances are compelling, as is her songwriting, and the band is great. The combined effect amounts to more than mere auditory enjoyment, however. Like her namesake, Shanti brings a sense of peace to those who will listen.” Peter Erskine

Snyders Market - Tommy Snyder

The reason this album is called Snyder's Market is because there is a variety of styles, sounds and more importantly, musicians of different ethnic & social backgrounds who appear here. Tommy's Grandfather had a bit of everything in his market, so we hope you'll find the selection here a pleasing one. All musicians and recording engineers here are artists in their own right supporting Tommy's belief that everyone who participated in this project created the musical form it is. Recorded in Paris, (except for parts of the duet, One Wish For You, with daughter Shanti, recorded in Japan).

Hearts On Fire - Tommy Snyder

Top English, Paris & L.A.based players are featured with Tommy on his fourth album. Hints of R&B, Rock, Jazz 'n Pop, highlight his soulful vocal delivery and dynamic-subtle groove as drummer. Seven tracks were recorded in London, three in L.A. and the rest in Paris. Also an "international" collaboration. Tommy does two English language versions of songs written by/with his close friend and collaborator, Keisuke Kuwata.

Take A Look

Take A Look - Tommy Snyder

Tommy’s third solo album, and the first he recorded after moving to Paris. Recorded in London, L.A. and Paris. R & B influenced pop-rock with a taste of Jazz here and there; there is also no questioning the wonderful live feel and sound. Great musicians, tasty arrangements. This recording began a long and happy musical relationship with people like Max Middleton (Jeff Beck-Chris Rea etc), Jean-Michel Kajdan _one of France’s most respected guitarists_ (see Link), Jean-Philippe Rykiel (Salif Keita - Yossou‘NDour), Eric Persing (Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Sting, etc.).

Commercial Life - Tommy Snyder

It was once said that 10% of the Japanese population had heard Tommy's voice, as he was one of the most in-demand jingle writer/singers in Japan. In many cases, when jingles were recorded, a full length version of the song was produced. Tommy compiled a few and re-recorded some others to create Commercial Life, released on Victor (JVC) in Japan in 1986.

An African In Paris

An African In Paris-Makinto

African influences on musical developments in Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Rock, Funk, Pop, Rap, Latin and Dance have never been far from the spotlight. George Makinto, born to a Liberian mother and German father, is an insturment himself. On piano, flute, percussion, or as a writer, arranger and group leader, this mixed blood son of Africa, in working with musicians from many corners of the globe, provides a taste of everything that can groove.
Is it World? Is it Jazz? Often in World music, an entire album is devoted to a specific style, color or sound. But in reality, all music's a blend of whoever is making it. Because Makinto is also paying his respects to the music and cultures that have influenced him, it makes sense that this debut album reflects just that, thus the "menu" of music spiced with Jazz, Hilife, Latin & Funk and contributions of musicians from 16 different countries.

Malimba

HAY-003 2000

Malimba - Music Is Hope, Makinto

This is soundtrack from Makinto's one-man-musical, "Malimba-Music Is Hope." In this 50 minute show, which he's performed in New York and Los Angeles, Makinto guides the audience through the evolution of music, performing on a variety of instruments, and touching on the roots of traditional African music, gradually developing through Samba, Reggae, Calypso, Spiritual, Blues, Gospel and Rap, and his own African Soul Music. He once again pays hommage to the musical influences that have helped cultivate his multi-talented, multi-cultural musical spirit.

About the Hayama Label (since 1997)

I formed the Hayama label in 1997, after An African In Paris was released in Japan. I needed my own, fully controlled outlet for my musical endeavors as producer and/or artist. Now, almost all of my catalog is on line, as mentioned above.
