Japan Trip - Summer 2000

Click to see BEACH CLEANING 2007

Japan is known for extremely clean cities, subways etc. But for many years I wondered why so much trash is left on the beaches. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that someone had left a car transmission on the beach! (and it's from a Mercedes Benz too.

During the Godiego tour, while in Kyushu (south-west island) in the city of Kagoshima, I woke up very early one morning, and was able to see a beautiful sunrise over the still-active volcano, SAKURAJIMA.

I have a small apartment on the beach in Kamakura, an ancient capital of Japan.

FRIENDS: Downstairs from my apartment is a windsurfing club. During the summer we have many barbecue parties. These are the WIND GUYS.

Kamakura is also a great place for me to spend time with Shanti. She was dressed in a Kimono for the yearly summer fireworks display.

Shanti with my artist friend Eizin Suzuki.

And from the terrance I think I have seen some of the most beautiful and inspring sunsets.
