I decided to auction 5 cymbals that I have been using for some years, and donate 100% of the money to a very "direct" purpose for helping out for the tsunami/earthquake victims. Zildjian has given me permission to do this. At the Godiego 35th anniversary concert in Tokyo, on November 19, the auction was a success! The cymbals were put on display in the lobby of the concert hall. People could write their bids on a paper and place them in corresponding bags in front of each cymbal. After the concert, I went to the lobby, and we checked the bids, called out the names of the highest bidders, and then I signed each cymbal for those who purchased them.
The total abount of money raised was ¥118,500 ($1,538.96) Thanks so much to those who supported this!! I am now researching the way to get this money to use and will eventually let you know about that here.
